Exciting Fellowship at New Life!

New Life Christian Fellowship has been very busy with fun and exciting events from September until November. Here is a quick recap of what has been happening!

3rd Annual Luau:
New Life held its third annual Luau on September 15, 2018 which also celebrated our 11th birthday. We welcomed around 160 people into our church and had a pig roasting over an open fire. We also had tons of delicious side dishes and desserts provided by our church congregants. We set up kid friendly games, face and hair painting, and a jumpy house for kids to enjoy. We love inviting our community to enjoy food and fellowship with us. We are excited to throw this luau again next September! We hope to see you there!

Beth Moore: Reflection written by: Karen Day, Women’s Ministry Leader
On Saturday, October 6, 2018 forty eight women came together as one to celebrate the diversity of the Church as the Bride of Christ. Beth Moore’s teaching truly speaks to the heart of a woman of any age. As one woman commented, “We are not alone, we are the beautiful bride of Christ, and we wait expectantly for his return.”

A young friend of mine in her early twenties attended as my guest this year. She and I are both going through a year of transitions and challenges. Beth Moore talked about the gifts that God gives to each us to serve him. My friend, Katelyn, is an outgoing and personable young woman who wants to invite everyone to the wedding celebration. I, on the other hand, am a person who is comfortable remaining in the background as a wedding coordinator. Give me a logistical challenge and I am a happy to use my talents. God has gifted us differently to further his kingdom. Beth Moore’s message encouraged us to embrace those gifts. Trying to step into a calling not meant for us would cause us both frustration and burnout. As Sharon said, “I wouldn’t answer someone else’s cell phone so why would I answer someone else’s calling?”

Many thanks to Gary Bozin and his team for preparing delightful lunch. Also, many thanks to Jon Uhland and my son, Ross for their tech support. As I stood back in the fellowship hall and watched the lively conversations during lunch, I was encouraged to see the women embracing the message that we are not alone, we are the beautiful bride of Christ, and we wait expectantly for his return.

Operation Christmas Child:
In the past, New Life has really enjoyed coming together to participate in Operation Christmas Child. This year our goal was to put together 175 boxes. With your gifts and help we exceeded that goal and packed 200 boxes! Thank you to all the adults and kids who took time to help pack the boxes so they can be safely delivered to the kids around the world.

Fight Night:
This was the first year New Life has hosted Fight Night with Dr. Les and Leslie Parrot. Fight night is a fun event filled with humor, fresh insight, and new strategies for relationships. Thanks to Sharon, the room was set up beautifully like a “date night” with snacks, popcorn and drinks.

Here is what Kristi (an attendee) said about Fight Night:
“Thank you for a fun and helpful evening. Hopefully we can do something like this again. Les and Leslie are great presented and we both felt that they gave us new tools to add to our marriage tool box. I especially liked the 2 positive/1 negative withhold. What a great way to increase positive communication. Super fun evening, thank you for the great work!”

We want to hold more nights like Fight Night to help couples to continue to grow with one another and also in Christ together.

Music & Worship Night Reflection

Worship. There is something about those opportunities we have as believers to participate together in community. At New Life, our worship team is humbled to be able to lead God’s people in corporate worship and reflection. It is a beautiful thing to lift our voices as one to recognize and honor our God.

Since it is so refreshing to focus on God’s goodness each Sunday, it was extra special to be able to devote Friday evening, August 24th, to a night of worship, reflection and testimony. Being able to spend this extended time with our brothers and sisters of faith, singing for an audience of One is always a cherished time for our church. Sharing and hearing testimonies of God’s work in the lives of His people is an amazing encouragement and a way to get to know each other better!

Here’s a recap of a couple of the songs and testimonies shared together:

“Come as You Are”
We love this song because it reminds us of the importance of coming to Him, baggage, brokenness, and all and giving our burdens to the One who has promised to take them and provide healing, wholeness and rescue in return.

“Chain Breaker”
Wow, we had fun with this song upbeat song who’s lyrics are simple yet profound!

Here are they are:
If you’ve been walking the same old road for miles and miles

If you’ve been hearing the same old voice tell the same old lies

If you’re trying to feel the same old holes inside

There’s a better life!

If you’ve got pain, He’s a pain taker

If you feel lost, He’s a way maker

If you need freedom or saving, He’s a prison-shaking Savior

If you’ve got chains, He’s a chain breaker!

We’ve all searched for the light of day in the dead of night

We’ve all found ourselves worn out from the same old fight

We’ve all run to things we know just ain’t right

And there’s a better life!

“Reckless Love”
We love this intense song because it is such a beautiful picture of the way God comes after His children, fighting for us even when we have turned from Him. He loves us not because we have it all together but because we are his children. He never gives up on us, instead, He pursues us passionately & persistently. What a picture!

“This We Know”
One worship team member has felt God’s hand through a number of challenges and profound loss in her life. She shared that as she has faced many joys and profound disappointments, she has been encouraged over and over when she given her future to God. He surprises her with His lavish love for her as he provides in abundance and in his timing. She reminds herself often of the importance of standing on His promises for his people. He makes all things new, He promises to provide for our needs, He loves us and He has our future in his hands.

This We Know lyrics:
You are who say You are

You’ll do what You say You’ll do

You’ll be who You’ve always been to us

Our hope is in You alone

Our strength in your mighty name

Our peace in the darkest day remains

This we know

We will see the enemy run

We will see the victory come

We hold on to every promise You ever made

Jesus, You are unfailing

Our God through the wilderness

And our joy in the heaviness

Our way when it seems there is no way

We trust you, Jesus we trust you, your ways are higher than our own!

“Thy Will”
A profound testimony was given before this song. It encouraged us all to recognize that He is in control – even when our circumstances have us wiped out, knocked down to our knees in despair, or wracked with anxiety. God has got the big picture worked out and as we humble ourselves before Him, trusting Him. He often sends just the right encouragement to give us hope in the future.

During this testimony, Philippians 4:6-7 was shared as a scripture that strengthened this person during this time in their life:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

A beautiful testimony was shared before this song. This testimony shared what can happen when we are able to take our rage and hurt and instead of lashing out at those who have hurt us we can give it over to God. He then often brings His peace over us. This individual shared how turning her rage and hurt over to God brought her peace that surpassed her understanding. Her next, God inspired steps resulted in a major source of healing,  breaking a stronghold in her husband’s life. In this song, we recognize Jesus as our source of peace, the one who can silence fear. We call out to Jesus for His peace and then watch as His light makes the darkness of our lives tremble.  What a testimony!

After spending hours praying about, rehearsing for and preparing for this event, we were thrilled to hear how many people, like us, were touched by God and encouraged during this time together. We were all encouraged as we were to be able to spend this focused time worshiping and reflecting on the goodness of the One who brings hope! We hope to continue these nights of focused worship at least twice a year, stay tuned!

Healing Prayer Team Update

The Healing Prayer Team held the third “Healing Time” on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 6pm-8pm in the New Life Christian Fellowship’s Sanctuary.

We were blessed to witness the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to all who attended. At these events, we set up the Sanctuary specifically for healing, with art, music, lighting, communion, soaking heart space, and attendees receive prayer from our Healing Prayer Team.

We saw significant healing in a man’s hips, another man’s knees, a woman’s hearing improved, two women with lower back pain improved, and a spirit of poverty was broken, and a spirit of peace was released for one family. We praise God our Healer!

Our Team’s calendar is tentatively:
